Freemasons sponsor PPE Production

Crewkerne Freemasons and the Somerset Provincial Grand Lodge are sponsoring Donald Gray’s production of PPE ear protectors for NHS staff, care workers and others employed on the front line during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mr Gray who is a member of the Parrett and Axe Lodge, whose meetings are held at the Masonic Hall in South Street, is making batches of the ear protectors on a 3D printer at his home near Yeovil.

A retired professional photographer and web designer with a vast amount of experience in information technology, graphic art and product design, Donald Gray is making batches of around 450 at a time, with each piece fully inspected by him, before being packed in tens and delivered where they are needed. Those who have received the PPE ear protectors, which take the strain off the ears from wearing an elasticated mask, include Crewkerne Community Hospital, two care homes in the town and he has just received an order from a local dentist, who will be reopening soon.

Donald Gray said: “It is a pleasure to make them for where ever they are needed and my wife has been delivering them locally. As a Freemason, I am honoured to help and have the full support of the fraternity. A lot of people don’t realise that Freemasonry is a charitable organisation that funds hospices, air ambulances, lifeboats, emergency appeals and other worthwhile causes. We are a ‘Band of Brothers’ from all walks of life with the emphasis on friendship, improvement and camaraderie.” To find out more about Crewkerne Freemasons, visit the portal page at www.crewkerne-freemasons.org Any hospital, care home, dentist or similar establishment in need of the ear protectors, which come complete with photographic instructions on how to attach them, please email [email protected]
