Cheshire Freemasons donate £5000 to help Disabled children and young people across Cheshire East

Friends for Leisure helped by Cheshire Freemasons

Disabled children and young people across Cheshire East will have a greater opportunity to make friends and have fun thanks to a grant from Cheshire Freemasons.

The generous grant of £5,000 to Friends for Leisure will help to fund our staff and office costs, these being costs which are often difficult to cover.

Disabled children and young people frequently report that they find it difficult to make friends and join in everyday activities. Sometimes this is because they have to travel miles to school, so they can’t see their schoolfriends in the evening or at weekends. Others, who go to local schools, are bullied or ignored because they are seen as “different”

The grant from Cheshire Freemasons comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation, which is funded by Freemasons, their families and friends from across England and Wales.

Gillian Jones, Manager at Friends for Leisure said: “We are most grateful to Cheshire Freemason for their generous grant, which will help us to continue to provide fun and friendship for disabled young people.”

Stephen Blank, Provincial Grand Master of Cheshire Freemasons said: “I am very pleased that Freemasons have been able to support Friends for Leisure with this £5,000 grant.  Without help from the great people at Friends for Leisure, these disabled young people would have found themselves excluded from activities that most of us take for granted..”
