Local charities from across West Wales will be sharing £150,000 from the Freemasons, who are celebrating their 300th anniversary.

More than 30 charities are benefiting, including the MacMillan Nurses, the Llanelli Talking Newspaper and the Carmarthen Youth Project.

The grants range from £600 – £10,000, and will include the announcement of the West Wales nominations for the England and Wales Community Awards. These four charities will divide £50,000 between them, but the size of the individual awards will depend on a public vote.

There will also be the announcement of the presentation of a £56,000 new ambulance to St John Ambulance, which will be handed over at a special service to celebrate the
Tercentenary of Freemasonry at St David’s Cathedral in July.
