A Surprise Visitor for Freemasons Hall Burton

The photograph is of 8 day old Phoebe Grace and Karen holding her in the exact spot where she was born. Mum Rebecca and dad, Nathan proudly look on.

Tuesday 31st October started like any other for mum of two Rebecca who was expecting her third child. Suddenly things started to happen and the hospital was contacted as baby seemed to be on the way. After speaking to the hospital Rebecca’s sister Lydia started to drive her to Burton Queen’s Hospital.

The journey was difficult as one of the Burton bridge’s was closed for repair causing traffic jams. It was clear they were not going to make it to the hospital before baby arrives so Lydia turned into a big car-park off the Ashby Road, which just happened to be the car-park to Burton Masonic Hall.

Karen from the Hall investigates why a car is on the car-park when the Hall is closed and is told baby is on the way. Rebecca was taken into the dining room where sheets, blankets and table cloths were made into a bed, an ambulance was en-route from Lichfield as none were available in Burton.

At 10.25am baby Phoebe Grace weighing 7lbs 7ozs is born in the dining room just ahead of the arrival of paramedics and proud dad, Nathan. Mum and baby were taken to Burton Hospital.

St Modwen’s Lodge of Instruction, Abbey Lodge, Andresey Lodge and Freemasons Hall Burton have collected £373 to help Phoebe and her family have a very happy Christmas.

Congratulations from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Staffordshire.
