Geoffrey Cooper Chapter Receives Bristol TeamOn Friday 9th September 2016, the Geoffrey Cooper Royal Arch Chapter hosted a visit by the Province of Bristol Demonstration Team who conducted a simulated Exaltation Ceremony. This is a unique event as only this Team is permitted by Supreme Grand Chapter to deliver this Ceremony, which has not changed for over 200 years. Over 100 Companions enjoyed a spectacular presentation where E Comp Simon Butler acted as the Exaltee. The photographs show some of those attending and the Demonstration Team.

Records of Royal Arch activity in England, in today’s Supreme Grand Chapter, start with the entry in the first minute book of the unnamed ‘Excellent Grand and Royal Chapter’. They are dated 22 March 1765 and show the first meeting to have been held at the mysterious and still unidentified Mr Inge’s premises, until the move to The Turk’s Head in Gerrard Street, Soho, London on 12 June of the same year. It took a further four years before Supreme Grand Chapter issued warrants establishing the first new Chapters under the jurisdiction of the Order.

It was the hottest and clammiest day of the year when the masses gathered at Blackpool Masonic Hall for the installation convocation of Senatores Chapter of Installed First Principals No 8966. Despite the rather oppressive heat however, there was a general atmosphere of leisured cosiness.
