Freemasonry Matters has been covering the fraternity since 2010 — not as an official mouthpiece, but as an independent platform run by people who believe the Craft deserves honest, accessible reporting.
What We Do
We publish news, features, and commentary about Freemasonry across the United Kingdom and beyond. Lodge events, charitable work, governance updates, historical deep dives — if it matters to the fraternity, we write about it. We also cover the wider Masonic family: Mark Masonry, Royal Arch, the Allied and Additional degrees, and the many orders that sit alongside the Craft.
Why We Exist
There is no shortage of conspiracy theories and misinformation about Freemasonry online. We think the best response is not defensiveness — it is transparency. By reporting what Freemasons actually do, from funding defibrillators in rural villages to restoring Grade II listed buildings, we let the facts speak for themselves.
Regular Freemasonry is not a religion. It has no political agenda. It is a fraternity built on self-improvement, mutual support, and service to the community. That has been the case for over 300 years, and it is why the Craft endures.
For Non-Masons
If you have landed here out of curiosity, you are welcome. We write for Masons and non-Masons alike. Our Beginner’s Guide is a good starting point, and if you are thinking about joining, we would encourage you to visit the United Grand Lodge of England website or reach out to your local Provincial Grand Lodge.
Contributing
We are always looking for articles, lodge news, event write-ups, and photographs. If your lodge has done something worth sharing — a charity presentation, a milestone anniversary, a community project — we want to hear about it. Send contributions to our editorial team by email or post.
