What do the masons who built medieval cathedrals, the philosopher Voltaire and the artist Marc Chagall have in common? Give yourself a pat on the back if you knew that they are all associated with freemasonry. The history of freemasonry is the subject of a major exhibition at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, open until 24 July 2016, to which the British Library has loaned two medieval manuscripts.
The sun is starting to shine and the ground drying out. Before you book your summer golfing trips make sure you keep the Wednesday 7th September 2016 clear. Of course it is the big golf day of the year, yes it is the Annual London Mark Golf Day.
The Board of General Purposes is proud to announce that the main London event celebrating 300 years of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington on 31 October 2017.
The club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at St James Church Cobham Road Accrington, where they have free use of the meeting room at the rear of the church. The theme for this meeting was the Queens 90th Birthday Celebrations, where all the guests received a replica of the meal presented to guests at the party held on the Mall in London.
Ezra, who is a member of Hand and Heart Lodge, No. 4109, started The Forget Me Not Trust two years ago with his brother Nathan because, ‘We were seeing homeless people everywhere we went in these major cities. We realised this was an epidemic problem, so we thought we should try to do something about it. We’ve been blessed in our own way with business, so we’re in a fortunate position and wanted to give something back.’
The Masonic Charitable Foundation has awarded £65,000 to the INSPIRE Foundation to fund a research project which aims to improve the quality of life and independence of people with spinal cord injuries. The research project will be led by young research scientist Sean Doherty who broke his neck in a mountain bike accident in 2008 at the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. Sean broke his neck in a mountain bike accident in 2008 and subsequently lives with Tetraplegia which means he is both disabled and has limited hand and arm function. Sean is originally from Gloucestershire and studied at the University of Cardiff.
To celebrate the Tercentenary of Grand Lodge and promote Freemasonry throughout the South West, a banner will be paraded across the Province’s of Wiltshire, Jersey, Guernsey & Alderney, Cornwall, Devonshire, Dorset and Hampshire & Isle of Wight.
