150th anniversary celebrations of Globe Chapter No. 23

The sesquicentenary celebrations of Globe Chapter, No. 23, have taken place at Freemasons’ Hall, Great Queen Street. The chapter started life in 1865 as Panmure Chapter, No. 720, but in 1914 was unusually allowed to change to its current name and number.

The Apron is not a modern invention; in fact it is the most ancient of all garments. In the 3rd Chapter of genesis these words are written: “and the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”

Over the past few months, the Leicester based Wyggeston Lodge and its’ members have been filmed as part of the forthcoming new four-part documentary ‘Inside The Freemasons’ to be shown on Sky 1 this winter.

The exclusive documentary will feature the most in-depth look ever at the Freemasons in the run up to our 300th anniversary in 2017
