Brethren, I have recently received a couple of Masonic enquiries from Irish Brethren wishing to learn about the form of The Masonic Funeral service, that used to be conducted under the auspices of The Grand Lodge of Ireland. Members and guests of Bredenstone Lodge No 8093, meeting at St Margaret’s-At-Cliffe, turned out in force on the 28th June 2016 to celebrate the lodge’s 50th anniversary.
The lodge celebrated this momentous occasion by holding a ‘white table’ meeting, led by its Master Bill Harrison, which involved quickly dealing with the lodge business before admitting the non-masonic guests. Everyone was then treated to a brief history of the lodge by Past Master Lew Finnis.

Jean-Ovide Decroly was born on July 23rd, 1871 in Ronse, Belgium. He studied medicine at the University of Ghent and spent half a year studying at the University of Berlin. At the University of Berlin he studied the action of toxins and antitoxins on general nutrition. After starting his medical practice he became involved in a school for mentally and physically disabled children. It was through his work at the school that Decroly became interested in education.

The Prestigious SE England Masonic Province Golf Championship was this year held on the 14th July at Betchworth Park GC, Dorking.The event was very well supported with circa 60 masons from 4 provinces across the south east attending the event close to Box Hill in Surrey, the Oxfordshire Province Masonic Golf Society (OPMGS) fielded two teams. Both teams with an eye on winning the Trophy.
