Ferrum lodge donated a further £5000 to the Masonic Samaritan Fund, taking their total donations to over £20,000, and were elated to learn that they would now receive the honorific title of Patrons of Festival 2018.

During the past 11 months W Bro Dan Thomas and his fiancée Jenna Slater have been leading the members of St Peter’s Lodge No 7334 in raising funds for local Birmingham based charity Autism West Midlands and on Friday 23rd September saw the handover of a whopping cheque for £11,000!
Since emerging from the basement of Freemasons’ Hall, where I have been a charity president for the past nine years, to assume the appointment as Grand Secretary, I have felt very humbled by the numerous letters, emails and tweets of support and encouragement that I have received. The donation came about when Gordon Offer-Hoar became charity steward in 2006, with a personal interest in helicopters, and after researching the charity records, he found that the lodge had not previously donated to this charity. And so, the first donation was made in 2006.
Last Christmas the Provincial Charity Steward, Wayne Smith, asked you to consider supporting your local communities by sponsoring a child from a disadvantaged background to attend a Pantomime during the Christmas holidays. An initial two hundred and fifty places were reserved and thanks to your magnificent response, six hundred and ninety disadvantaged Children, Parents and Carers had a special Christmas treat! Mr David Eager of The Surrey Masonic Sports Association, has been awarded the Order of Mercy, a prestigious medal, for his voluntary service over many years to charities and non profit organisations in the United Kingdom and overseas.
