End2End Presentation by W.Bro. W. Stanton
President, Brethren all.
Firstly, Mr. President I would like to thank you for the opportunity of addressing the brethren assembled and Brethren I would like to thank you in advance for your attention.
You are probably wondering what End2End is? It is a challenge which is the brainchild of the 2020 Festival committee headed by W.Bro David Allan and which I am happy to have been asked to manage.
The Idea was that we should have a challenge which could be sponsored in aid of the RMTGB and for the 2020 festival. The idea was for John Lill and Peter Lawrence to run and cycle between them from John O’Groats to Lands End.
This as I am sure you are aware is a serious undertaking and the aim is to get from End to End in 9 days a distance of almost 1000 miles.
You will agree that this is a feat for anyone but when there are 2 of you with a combined age of over 130 then you will, I am sure, appreciate that it will be a spectacular achievement.
The idea is that both Peter and John will cover between them an average in excess of 100 miles per day with John running approximately 40 miles every day for 9 days.
27th May 2017 – Day 1 – will see them travelling from John O’Groats to Culbokie which is slightly north of Inverness
Day 2 – it’s Culbokie to Aberfeldy passing through parts of the Cairngorms on the way.
Day 3 – moving on from Aberfeldy to Lanark and getting closer to the English border.
Day 4 – we will be leaving Scotland and finishing in Cumbria. Going from Lanark to Clifton.
At this point the guys will have travelled a touch over 400 miles and been from 10 feet below sea level at the lowest point to almost 1600 feet above at the highest.
I don’t know about you Brethren but I am worn out already and at this point will have covered the same distance…. In a van or on my motorcycle!
Moving onwards
Day 5 – sees us dropping almost in a straight line from Clifton to Warrington
Day 6 – we will soldier on from Warrington to Hereford home of the world famous SAS. (sorry about the awful pun)
Day 7 – we will dip our toe into Wales on our way from Hereford to Bridgwater in Somerset.
Day 8 – and the end is almost in sight! As we travel from Bridgwater to Bodmin which will set us up for an easy.
3rd June 2017 – Day 9 – from Bodmin to Lands End where we hope to arrange a welcome and possibly an evening event so that Peter and John can restore their electrolytes!
See the full route HERE
Over the 9 days we will, as I have mentioned cover almost 1000 miles we will be passing through 20 or so provinces and with your help raising a lot of money for the RMTGB and the 2020 festival.

Our facebook page is facebook.com/end2enduk please visit and like it to receive updates in your own facebook feed.
We are in need of corporate sponsorship to cover the cost of staging this challenge we are offering several packages which will be detailed on the website but range from £150 to £500 for which you will not only get our eternal thanks but at the minimum, advertising on the website, our participants and or vehicles as we travel up too and including tickets to a proposed Gala Dinner which we will be having later in 2017, once John and Peter have regained the use of their legs.
Details of how to sponsor us will be available shortly but if you have some funds spare then please feel free to deposit them into Relief Chest E0180.
All payments will be credited to your individual and or Lodge total for the 2020 festival.
I am sure you can appreciate that this is a big challenge not only for the participants, who have my utmost regard, but logistically too, the full list of provinces we intend to pass through will be available on the website and if any of you live near to the route please make an effort to see us on our way!
Brethren, in closing I would ask that you give us as much support as you can, all donations will go towards the festival and you will have something tangible to donate to! A win win situation if ever I’ve heard of one. Please take this back to your lodges and ask for the support of your members on our behalf.
If you have any questions about sponsoring the challenge or helping in any other way we can be contacted on – [email protected]
