Wigan and District Group support local hospice

On 9 May the Chairman of Wigan and District Group Malcolm Taylor, vice chairman Geoffrey Porter and the assistant secretary John Selley were pleased to visit Wigan and Leigh Hospice, where they presented them with a cheque for £700 on behalf of the group.

Brethren and companions from each of the 19 lodges and eight chapters within the group had contributed towards the donation. The donation will be used to support the care given to over 1,200 members of the Wigan and Leigh local community every year, for over 30 years, who have received vital specialist palliative care from Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

Christine Edwardson, Community Fundraiser for the Hospice, said: “We are enormously grateful to the Freemasons of the Wigan and District Group for yet again supporting the hospice. The donation will be put to very good use, providing specialist care to our patients both on our inpatient unit and for those living at home.”
