The Rugby Football Lodge No.1965 Installation

The youngest lodge in the Province celebrated it’s first birthday at Rochdale on 30th June when VW Bro Stephen Holt, WM, installed his successor, W Bro A Michael Dyson, PPrJGW (West Lancashire) as WM for the ensuing year. Before doing so however, the Master presented a cheque of £1050 to APGM W Bro Gerry Young as a donation from the Lodge to the 2021 Festival, together with smaller contributions to ELMBF and the Annual Provincial Meeting costs. W Bro Young thanked the Brethren for their generosity and congratulated them on raising such impressive sums in just one year from three meetings.

W Bro “Mick” Dyson is a West Yorkshire Mason and is the Office Manager for the Craft, also a West Yorkshire Mark Mason. He is a retired Police Officer who worked in Fraud and Drug related cases. When he first retired he worked for the Rugby League on their Salary Cap investigation team. He was also the founding Secretary of the Rugby Football Craft Lodge No 9811 which was consecrated in 2005 and which meets at Huddersfield.

1965 Team Captain, VW Bro Stephen Holt then installed his successor in fine style – in rugby terms, it was a fluent, wide ranging game, bringing all team members into the action. Having then passed the Lodge Warrant “without offside or knock-on”, to the new WM, W Bro Michael Dyson, the Team saw out the rest of the match and after some strategic replacements, were still pressing when the final whistle blew.

Around 60 players and spectators were treated to a fine meal, excellent company and sporting banter from all sides in the refreshment tent. Referee (DC) W Bro Simon Archer used his whistle lightly but showed three yellow cards, one of which was to the Lodge Secretary for turning up without all of his kit – perhaps a little harsh. Bro Junior Warden however only avoided a sending off by dint of his winning smile.

A Super League Team if ever I saw one.
