The theft of charity cash from behind the bar of a Sandbach pub prompted a rescue donation by local Freemasons. More than £300 in coins which filled a large glass jar at the Military Arms pub on Sandbach Common was stolen one evening when the bar was briefly unattended. The cash had been raised by regulars in aid of the Sunny Days Children’s Fund to buy holidays and treats for needy children with life-altering illness.
At the recent Samaritan Installation held on January 31st, the outgoing Master, WBro Geoff Newsome, distributed cheques to various charities to the tune of £15,500. Penda Lodge No 7360 which meets at Sandbach has responded to a community initiative and donated £150 to the local Elworth Cricket Club who have pledged to supply a defibrillator for use of the public.
Samaritan Lodge No 368 held an Old English Night on Wednesday 8th November, a whopping £3,500 was raised through a well-supported auction and raffle, which alone raised £500 for a Christmas Turkey.
