St James Lodge Afloat!

Brethren from The St James Lodge No 6852, wives and friends plus Harvey the dog took to the high seas (well the Shropshire Union Canal!) on Sunday 2nd July courtesy of Bro Steven Harrison, WBro David Harrison and Anglo-Welsh Narrow Boats.

The intrepid explorers cast off from Bunbury Wharf to waves from WBro Donald Bailey on a bright sunny day into the unknown! At a pleasant 4mph, they were able to admire the flora, fauna and wild life along the river bank, ducks, geese, coots, moorhens, herons as well as a solitary kingfisher. Teas, Coffees as well as Bacon Butties were dispensed mid-morning to ensure no-one got scurvy, plus a little wine later on kept all mellow.

An excellent lunch was had at the Olde Barbridge Inn followed by an excursion up the Bridgewater Canal past the Venetian Marina to moor and have an afternoon birthday tea of Prosecco, Cookies and Pastries to celebrate the skipper, WBro David Harrison’s 64th birthday. We returned to Bunbury after an extremely pleasant trip of over 11 hours, a good time was certainly had by all!
