Lodge Prince of Wales Hosts 25th Anniversary of MHH | Provincial Grand Lodge Renfrewshire East

Lodge Prince of Wales, Renfrew No.426 was the venue for a unique ceremony on Saturday 11th June, to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the opening of The Marcus Humphrey House.

This took the form of a special Entered Apprentice Degree conferred by the Provincial Grand Masters of eleven Provinces namely:

Argyll and the Isles, Ayrshire, Dumfriesshire, Dunbartonshire, Galloway, Glasgow, Kilwinning, Lanarkshire Middle Ward, Lanarkshire Upper Ward, Renfrewshire East and Renfrewshire West.

A Deputation from The Grand Lodge of Scotland, headed by Bro. George R. Kelly, Right Worshipful Substitute Grand Master was also in attendance.

Welcoming all the visitors, Bro. Ronald Alexander, RWM of Lodge Prince of Wales No.426 commented on the unique nature of the event and thanked all the Brethren responsible for making the arrangements.

During the ceremony, the Candidate, Mr. Blair David Ross, was Initiated into Freemasonry by the Degree Team composed of PGMs.

On behalf of that Degree Team, Bro. John S. Miller, PGM of Renfrewshire East, thanked the Friends Group at The Marcus Humphrey House for their kind invitation to be involved in the celebrations.

Bro. J.M. Marcus Humphrey of Dinnet, Past Grand Master, after whom the House is named, told the assembled Brethren of his joy in celebrating the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Home which provided an excellent example of the work of Freemasonry in the wider community.

He paid special tribute to Mrs Dawn Oliff, Homes and Charities Manager, and the staff at the Home along with the “marvellous” support by the associated Provinces and the Friends Group chaired by Bro. David A. Reid.

The ceremony was followed by an excellent dinner also held in the premises of Lodge Prince of Wales in Queen Street, Renfrew.
