Derby Mountain Rescue Team were established in 1965 after a tragic incident on the infamous Four Inns walk across the Peak District. The Team has grown in strength and stature and their expertise in search and rescue is highly respected by all of the emergency services, particularly the Police with whom they have a very strong working relationship.
Last winter’s catastrophic floods in Cumbria and Lancashire saw the Derby Mountain Rescue Team actively involved in rescuing many stranded people from waterlogged houses.
Mundy Grove Lodge were already aware of the important work DMRT carry out through the help that the late WBro Steve Hilditch MBE gave during The Festival Three Peaks Challenge.
Mundy Grove Lodge agreed that it would be a fitting cause to donate the sum of £500 to the Team, which was generously matched by an equivalent contribution from provincial Grand Charity. The £1,000 donation will help towards the establishment of new headquarters for the charity at Mackworth.
