A scout group has received vital funding from a grant that will keep its scout hut warm for years to come.
The 24th Farnworth (St Stephens) Scout Group, in Keasley, received a grant so that it could replace its heaters.
Stuart Savage, the Scout Leader, commented that the old heaters were no longer efficient, with the old heaters taking a very long time to heat up the hut.
The total of the grant came to £839, enough to replace all of the heaters at the site.
The grant was received from the Salford Freemasons and East Lancashire Masonic Charity, with the presentation of the cheque made on March 6.
Mr Savage said: “The new heaters we now have installed mean that our facilities are much nicer for the children and they can focus on their activities to obtain their badges and #skillsforlife.
“The group would like to place on record our thanks for the grant.”
The cheque was handed to the Honorary Group President, Ken Savage, by Ian MacNeil from the Freemasons with many in attendance.
Members of the Beavers and Cubs from the group were in attendance, as well as scouts from the neighboring group, 22nd Farnworth group, based in Little Lever, as part of a joint meeting on the night.
