ESSEX Freemasons have donated 50 litres of hand sanitizer to every hospice across the county, Little Havens in Thundersley and Fair Havens, Southend, as part of an ongoing campaign to support the NHS, care homes and other key workers in their fight against the Covid-19 virus.

Nearly £30,000 has been spent so far by Masons on essential PPE equipment for 300 Essex care homes, a further £20,000 has been donated to boost antibody testing with an additional £100,000 pledged to fight the virus in every part of the region.

As well as the Hospices, sanitisers have been donated to staff at Essex Search and Rescue to help front line teams. Additional face visors have also been given to maternity sonographers in Romford and Chelmsford to help protect both staff and pregnant mothers arriving for routine testing.

Ellie Miller, Director of Care at Havens Hospices said: “On behalf of everyone at Havens Hospices we cannot thank Provincial Grand Lodge of Essex enough for their generous donation of hand sanitiser.

“The frequent use of hand sanitiser is essential to the care we provide at our hospices and through our care in the community. It will help us continue providing safe and high quality care to our patients as well as protecting our frontline staff.”

The campaign to support front line emergency staff will continue says Essex Freemasons and have appealed to all those involved in the front line against Covid-19 to make contact with Lee Taylor via e-mail: [email protected] if they need help.

Money to support the campaign has been donated via the Essex Freemasons Community Fund, set up earlier this year Provincial Grand Master Rodney Bass to support charities and good causes across the entire county.
