Seven Brethren from Shropshire enjoyed a superb weekend in Warwick at the end of June as Round Table lodge members from around the country gathered for a celebration. The fun began even before they left Salop, as certain well- known Brethren vied for the ‘bad boys’ seat on the bus.
W Bro Walter Greenwood, a Past Master of Commercial Lodge No. 1391 which meets in Leicester, has recently received the Legion d’Honneur Medal presented by the French Government for his contribution to the liberation of France during the Second World War
The Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur is the highest French order for military merit, established 1802 by Napoléon Bonaparte.
Lord Barnard was initiated into Agricola Lodge in 1961 and became its Worshipful Master in 1968. He was appointed as Provincial Grand Master in December 1969 and installed in 1970, a position he held for 28 years, during which time, he performed his duties and responsibilities with impeccable distinction.
Heart of England Lodge 6549 have purchased and donated a £1,400 mobility scooter to Shopmobility in Touchwood, Solihull. The scooter has a Square and Compass sticker clearly visible saying “Donated by Members of Heart of England Lodge No.6549”. It was purchased via the Almoners charity account and was presented to Cathy Stoll, CEO Shopmobility on Tuesday 19th July 2016.
Due to an unexpected business commitment coinciding with the date of the 2015 installation meeting of Lodge of Perseverance No 155, Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master Philip Gardner had to take a rain check as the representative of the Provincial Grand Master. However, after being assigned the duty for 2016, Philip was delighted to represent on this very special occasion.

It was a red letter day for Nourse Lodge, No. 8590, which meets at Cambridge, when it saw its second successive double initiation ceremony during the year. The occasion was particularly significant as it also marked the entry of a fourth-generation mason, conducted by three of the family.
Not many people, apart from his close friends and family, will know the name of Silvester William Brunton, but mention the name Sid Brunton to anyone in Dunston and Gateshead and immediately you can see a smile of joy appears on their faces.
Peter Blackhurst, Master of Charity Centenary Lodge, No. 3786, which meets at Farnworth, East Lancashire, has been presented with an award from the NHS Blood and Transplant service for donating 100 pints of blood. He was one of 30 individuals honoured in a ceremony at Gorton Monastery for donors in the Manchester area who had reached such a milestone.
