Thousands of free lockdown meals delivered through Bury Freemason's initiative

THOUSANDS of meals are being delivered across the north-west during the pandemic – thanks to a brainwave by a Bury Freemason.

Craig Hindle launched ‘Meals on Alloy Wheels’ recently, delivering grub to isolated and vulnerable locals.

And he pumped £1,000 into the initiative, which drew its inspiration from his own firm, ‘Alloy Wheels Refurbished’.

Now the Freemasons have provided a grant of £11,500 to supercharge the efforts of Craig, who has been supported by catering staff at Walshaw Sports Club to get the scheme off the ground.

Craig said: ““This is a really difficult time for some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

“I’m very pleased we’ve been able to help them stay safe by delivering appealing and nutritious meals straight to their door.”

An estimated 3,000-plus meals have been delivered, with the help of Craig’s fellow Freemasons, through the scheme and the grant assistance.

* If anyone knows of someone in the local area who will benefit from the free meals delivered to the door, contact Craig on 07976 705420, Christine on 07544 941396 or Pam on 07563 989590.
