The Freemason’s Liber Musicus: The Red Cross Song

The Library and Museum of Freemasonry

This song about the Masonic and Military Order of the Red Cross of Constantine was composed by Robert Wentworth Little (1840-1879), who revived the Order in 1865 (with the assistance of W H White, formerly Grand Secretary of the United Grand Lodge of England and W J Hughan, the Masonic historian) and was its Grand Recorder until 1872. Wentworth Little worked as a clerk at Freemasons’ Hall. He was also a founder of the Masonic Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA) and editor of The Freemason from 1869 to 1873.
