A rare chance to see inside the world of Freemasonry. The highlight of the building is the symbolic and ornate temple, there is also a display of memorabilia associated with freemasonry.
MEMBERS, wives and partners of Taunton’s Vivary Masonic Lodge raised £475 at a Christmas gathering at the home of the then Master, Chris George and his wife, Rachel.
A cheque has now been presented to Tina Viksna, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance fund raising manager, by Alwyn Clegg and Bhuvnesh Bhalla, father-in-law of the host and the lodge treasurer respectively.
Entertainment at the event was provided by Norfolk folk group Ovation, with visitors also invited to sit in on a demonstration at which members talked about their roles within the Lodge, gave an insight into some of the rituals ‘brothers’ follow at meetings, and spoke about the significance of their highly decorated collars and aprons
Freemasons are keen to dispel the secrecy associated with the movement, and held a series of We’re Open events this week to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the United Grand Lodge of England, the governing body of Freemasonry in England and Wales.
Freemasons’ charitable donations are second only to the National Lottery in terms of the amount given. Since 2010, the 40 members of the Dartmoor Lodge have given more than £15,000 to local organisations and individuals, all raised from their own pockets and social events.

During the open day at the Masonic Rooms in Malvern on the 25th June, Malvern Priory Mark Lodge No 1351 presented the Worcester Army Cadet Force Charitable Trust with a cheque for £650 in support of the excellent youth development work undertaken within the area.
