Freemasons ’Square Meals’ initiative delivers its 1000th meal

The meals are being distributed in partnership with B&NES Social Care teams and local charities, all of whom look after the neediest in the area via local centres. These include B&NES Child Support centres in Foxhill, Keynsham and Radstock, Bath City Farm and Southside Centre who cover Whiteway and Twerton, Sporting Family Change in Midsomer Norton and Mercy in Action on the Lower Bristol Road.

Northumberland Freemasons held a special evening at Newcastle East Masonic Hall to present more than £125,000 to charities and deserving projects throughout the region.

The Trustees of the Richard Henry Holmes Benevolent Fund meet twice a year to consider any requests for financial help and support from worthy causes in the Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside areas.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Master, for West Lancashire, Kevin Poynton, made presentations to the following organisations to other organisations including St Elphin’s Church, St Thomas’ Church, St Rocco’s Hospice, Brainwave, Room at the Inn, Warrington Talking Newspaper, The Salvation Army and the Walton Lea Project.

The Blood Bikes provide the county with a unique voluntary transport service, couriering urgently needed blood, drugs, human tissue and other medical requirements between hospitals and medical centres, often operating under “blue light” conditions. They are all highly trained specialist advanced drivers.
