Freemasons receive Community Partner Award from Midlands Air Ambulance

500 supporters of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity dined and partied the night away at Edgbaston on Friday 8th July to celebrate 25 years of Helimed service to the counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire. The AIR25 Ball and Awards Ceremony celebrated the special achievements of individuals and organisations who had made continuous and significant contributions to the Charity over the quarter century of its existence.

The need for this further essay was first made apparent to me when—in my capacity as Secretary of the Lodge and Editor of the Transactions—I began to receive inquiries from Brethren as far away as Vancouver and Singapore, asking for materials and information which might help them to complete their own papers on Kipling, and I found, to my surprise, that while our library contains a great deal of relevant material, there has never been a paper on Kipling in our Transactions.

The special meeting, held under dispensation from the PGM saw Lodges of Friendship from all over the country getting together to strengthen the bond of their association through having the same name. Lodges from as far afield as, Cumberland & Westmorland and Devonshire attended the meeting with the next Lodge to host the Gathering, the Lodge of Friendship No. 100, in the Province of Norfolk taking over the Ceremonial Gavel to be used next year in Great Yarmouth.

23 teams of 4 guns and individuals totalling over 100 entries from 10 Lodges took part in the competition with the host Lodge, Eccles, entering 7 teams. The sporting round of 50 clays over 5 stands proved challenging and enjoyable to all who took part. A practice stand and 2 have-a-go facilities were also available.

Ezra, who is a member of Hand and Heart Lodge, No. 4109, started The Forget Me Not Trust two years ago with his brother Nathan because, ‘We were seeing homeless people everywhere we went in these major cities. We realised this was an epidemic problem, so we thought we should try to do something about it. We’ve been blessed in our own way with business, so we’re in a fortunate position and wanted to give something back.’
