Freemasonry consists of fraternal organisations that trace their origins to the local fraternities of stonemasons, which from the end of the fourteenth century regulated the qualifications of stonemasons and their interaction with authorities and clients. The degrees of freemasonry retain the three grades of medieval craft guilds, those of Apprentice, Journeyman or fellow (now called Fellowcraft), and Master Mason. These are the degrees offered by Craft (or Blue Lodge) Freemasonry. Members of these organisations are known as Freemasons or Masons. There are additional degrees, which vary with locality and jurisdiction, and are usually administered by different bodies than the craft degrees.
The basic, local organisational unit of Freemasonry is the Lodge. The Lodges are usually supervised and governed at the regional level (usually coterminous with either a state, province, or national border) by a Grand Lodge or Grand Orient. There is no international, world-wide Grand Lodge that supervises all of Freemasonry; each Grand Lodge is independent, and they do not necessarily recognise each other as being legitimate.
HORSFORTH’s charity minibus is back on the road after the previous vehicle was stolen last year.
The bus, which is run entirely by volunteers, provides a vital service for mainly elderly people but also for community groups.
But the service was left unable to operate after the minibus was stolen last July.
Now, it is up and running again thanks to a donation of £2,500 from the West Riding Masonic Charity and an insurance payment.
It was an absolute pleasure for the Festival Director, the West Area Director and festival Secretary Paul Quinn to venture out West to Crook lodge to present their IPM Eddie Gibson with a festival achievement certificate to reward his efforts in raising over £500 on behalf of the Lodge for the festival
Worshipful Master of Kells Masonic Lodge 990 Derek Craig presents NI Childrens Fundraising Officer Catherine OHara with a cheque for £500, proceeds of a recent quiz night. Also included are lodge members Ronnie Craig (Senior Warden) and Allen Mercer (Steward of Charities).
Beard was born on June 21st, 1850 in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a young man he spent his times wandering in the woods and making sketches of nature. He moved with his family to Covington, Kentucky. In Kentucky he learned the stories of the pioneer life there, information that would serve him well later in life.
The Devon Freemasons donated £7,500 to the charity at a presentation on June 20 where Chief Executive DCF, Martha Wilkinson was delighted to be presented with the cheque by Ian Kingsbury, the Provincial Grand Master of Devonshire Freemasons.
Once again welcome to you all to this annual meeting. It is good to see so many here when we take into account we had an extraordinary meeting here only one month ago. For me it seems a lifetime ago. The Provinces of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire are teaming up to celebrate the 300 year anniversary of the founding of the United Grand Lodge of England, by hosting a Race Day at the Royal Windsor Racecourse.
Love and Honour Lodge No94, celebrated its Sesqui-Centenary on Monday 20th June at the Masonic Hall Falmouth. The Lodge was full to capacity to witness the Worshipful Master WBro C Semmens commence proceedings followed by the R W Provincial Grand Master Kevin Hicks who addressed the meeting
Blockley Lodge held an ‘extra HISTORIC meeting’ at the Woodstock Masonic Centre on the 21st June 2016. During the evening, W.Bro. Lord JGD and Chairman of the Universities Scheme for the UGLE, formally welcomed Blockley into the scheme
