St John’s Lodge donate to Prostate Cancer Research

At a specially arranged meeting in Coventry, the Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro David Macey presented cheques for £3,731 to the Chief Executive of Prostate Cancer Research, Professor John Masters. This was on behalf of the St John’s Lodge 2811, represented by W Bro Paul Skinner and W Bro Hosey Davoudian.

The funds were raised during Paul’s year in the chair of the Lodge, by events such as Quiz Nights, a Curry Night, a Golfing Event & Gala and a Christmas Sunday lunch.  In addition, the main fundraising event was the St. John’s Ladies’ Ball, organised by Amanda and Paul Skinner which 162 people supported, and this culminated in the overall sum raised of £3,531.31 for this worthy charity.  A further £200 was also donated by Priors Chapter Rose Croix, in which Paul is the current Most Wise Sovereign.  This is a splendid achievement for a relatively small Lodge, and RW Bro David Macey expressed his grateful thanks to W Bro Paul Skinner and Amanda together with other members of the Lodge, and said he felt very proud of their achievement. He went on to say how pleased he was to meet the CEO of Prostate Cancer research, Professor John Masters, and was pleased to support the research into this problem area, which affects many of our members.

The photographs below show the members of St John’s Lodge with the cheque prior to the presentation, and the Provincial Grand Master, W Bro Paul W Skinner, Professor John Masters and W Bro Hosey Davoudian.
