Sunday, 8th May, was a busy day for the Worshipful Master of Mallender Lodge No. 8835, Mel Hammond. On behalf of the members and supporters of the Lodge, he presented three cheques – each for £500 – to representatives of Brain Injury Support Group, Padfield Congregational Chapel and Reuben’s Retreat.
The charity day has become an annual event for the Mallender Lodge. The money was raised by members and visitors to Mallender Lodge. Socials such as the Olde English Nite, Indoor Summer Garden Party (to escape the rain!) and a Bumper Christmas Party were a few of the fun nights which helped to raise the money.
As well as donating to local and non-Masonic charities, Lodge members and visitors also contributed to the United Grand Lodge of England’s central Masonic charities.
