Promoting the Fraternity across the World
The body of Freemasonry is comprised of many types of individuals whose Masonic pursuits vary according to that individual’s personality and interests. Freemasonry has been very aptly been compared to a complex tapestry composed of many colourful overlapping individual threads which taken as a whole form a larger picture.
When being asked, what would be the value of a diamond, mostly everybody answers in terms of higher amounts of money. A poor wanderer in the desert, in need of a cup of water, would probably give a better answer to this question, because he reflects of value in a different way. “Most valuable” for him means, “serving his needs and desires best”.
This beautiful Stein was made to commemorate the 200th Anniversary (1795-1995) of Grand Holy Royal Arch Chapter of PA. Jock Stein was arguably the greatest club manager in Scotland with Celtic FC. Born in Burbank in Lanarkshire he went down the coal mines to earn a living as a miner but football was to become his escape from the black hole in the ground. Jock Stein played football for Blantyre Vics, Albion Rovers, Dundee United, Llanelli Town and finally Celtic. Forced to retire playing from constant ankle injuries, Jock coached the reserves and youth teams.
During research I was doing into the Holy Royal Arch of Jerusalem I came across a book in the George Holden library at the Solent Masonic Centre at Freshwater, Isle of Wight called the Book of the Chapter and printed in the United States in 1856, the Author being the famous American Masonic historian Albert Mackey MD. The book had been part of the collection of the Bombay Masonic Library in the latter half of the 19th century.
