Generous freemasons have handed over the keys to a brand new van that will be used to deliver food to residents in need.
Shropshire’s Freemasons have donated more than £44,000 to help local food banks and have created and distributed more than 1,700 visors to care homes during the coronavirus pandemic.
Bishop Percy Mark Herbert was born on 24th April 1885 at Shrewsbury where the family of the Earls of Powis, of which he was a member, held hereditary liberties. His father was Major-General the Hon. William Henry Herbert who had seen distinguished service in the Crimean War and who was a son of Edward Clive, 2nd Earl of Powis and Sybella Milbank
On Thursday evening the 2016 programme of Festival Perambulations was completed by WBro Roger Michell who walked over twenty miles from Shrewsbury to Oswestry to attend a meeting of Cae Glas Lodge. Shrewsbury Steam Rally attracted thousands over the August Bank Holiday weekend to see and smell transport of a bygone era. Amongst the many exhibitors was WBro Gerald, a Member of Kings Friends Lodge no 293 who has a collection of vintage coaches. Gerald, his son and grandson exhibited three well turned out vehicles, a 1933 Leyland Cub, a 1949 Crossley SD 42/7 and a 1950 Bedford OB all were driven with great pride into the Main Arena for everyone to see. Gerald recently celebrated his 50th year in Freemasonry at King’s Friends’ Lodge and is looking forward to the coming season particularly the November meeting when the Lodge will welcome a very special visitor!
