Surrey Freemasons Visit East Kent Mobile Chemotherapy Unit ‘Caron’ – Hope For Tomorrow

Hope-for-Tommorow

Freemasons from the Province of Surrey recently paid a visit to East Kent Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) ‘Caron’, in the run up to the launch of their 2022 Festival, on the 5th May 2016, when they will be fundraising for Hope for Tomorrow.

The group wished to learn more about our Mobile Chemotherapy Units and how they benefit cancer patients, to help in their fundraising efforts.

The visit took place on Thursday 31st March 2016, at the Unit’s treatment location in Dover, after the patient chemotherapy treatments had been completed.

Along with our Community Fundraiser, Clemency Rubinstein, a number of the team from East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust were in attendance during the visit, including Operations Manager for Cancer, Oncology, Clinical Haematology and Haemophilia, and MCU Project Lead, Annie Slinger, Head of Nursing for Cancer, Children’s Health, Clinical Haematology, Dermatology, Haemophilia, Oncology, Renal & Women’s Health, Elizabeth Mount and Chemotherapy ePrescribing Nurse Lead, Jennifer Jewell, along with the nursing team who had been administering treatments on board the Unit, and MCU Driver, Bryan Baird.

Ruth Mitchinson, who was the last patient of the day to receive treatment on board ‘Caron’, heard about the Mason’s visit, and encouraged the group to come on board to see the Unit and nursing team in action, and a patient actually receiving their treatment, which was an unexpected but very useful and informative addition to the visit, which the group were very appreciative of, and you can read about here.
