MS Society Oswestry Branch benefits from a Masonic donation

Presentation ovalW. Bro Richard Gittins, IPM of Fitz Alan Lodge No. 1432, and his wife Sue presented a cheque for £710 to the MS SocietyOswestry Branch. Receiving the cheque are the Treasurer of MS Oswestry, Mr Ray Horne and his wife. The donation represents the proceeds of the Ladies’ Night held during W.Bro Gittins’ year as WM of Fitz Alan Lodge. The charity was the ideal beneficiary, as Mrs Sue Gittins’ mother had suffered from MS.

Thanks to Correspondent W Bro Eric Booth

Editor: Freemasons have supported MS related medical research projects via the Freemasons’ Grand Charity. In 2010, our charity granted £100,000 to research the side effects of the drug alemtuzumab – a potential drug treatment for MS. Our investment proved very sound – following successful Phase III trials, the drug, now sold under the brand name Lemtrada, has proven to be an effective treatment for relapsing MS.
