WEDNESDAY 1st JUNE – John forced to retire due to injury

Update from John –” I had to retire from the event after Stage 2

I fell on crags after reaching Black Sail Hut, Ennerdale, on Monday afternoon, bashed my left knee, damaged left foot.

Started Stage 2 Tuesday morning, hoping that I could run off the injury, towards the latter stages I was in excruciating pain, the last 6 miles were very uncomfortable.

Woke up yesterday morning (Wednesday) could not put the left foot trainer on due to the swelling, bruising and advised by medic to retire.

I have been very fortunate to have been able to run 2 of the stages, 82 miles in 2 days, very challenging in places.

I am very sad and extremely disappointed that I could not complete the journey.”

We wish John a speedy recovery and congratulate him upon a tremendous achievement, despite his injury and the pain he was in !
