The Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons (HFAF) have donated nearly £4,000 for projects at The Royal London Hospital that will have an immediate impact on patients.

Five Trustees of HFAF visited the hospital last week to present the cheque for £3,957.50 to Mr Arjun Jeyarajah and Dr Ranjit Manchanda of the Gynaecological Oncology department.

The Trustees wanted their donation to be used for equipment that would have an immediate impact on both patients and staff. Their donation has enabled the purchase of a pair of surgical loupes (a loupe is a magnification device to help surgeons see small details more closely) and a light source.

Both of these further improve the precision of surgeons in the department, which in turn helps to lower any risk of injury during complex procedures.

Speaking at the cheque presentation, Dr Manchanda said it “was great to be able to do this, and we’d like to thank the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons for their kind generosity.”

The equipment is already making a big difference to patients at The Royal London. The Gynaecological Oncology department is an internationally renowned centre of clinical excellence, and this has been further enhanced by HFAF’s support. Last year, the service treated 468 women with a new diagnosis of gynaecological cancer.
