Kangaroo Island mayor Michael Pengilly, accompanied by council CEO Greg Georgopolous, receives the thermal imaging camera donated by Glenelg Lodge of Freemasons from Peter Crispe and Robert Beer of Parndana Lodge.
The Glenelg Lodge of Freemasons has donated a welcome piece of firefighting equipment to the Kingscote CFS brigade on Kangaroo Island.
A FLIR K2 thermal imaging camera was presented to the KI mayor Michael Pengilly by Peter Crispe and Robert Beer of Parndana Masonic Lodge.
The KI masons made the presentation on behalf of Vic Cardillo, the Master of Glenelg Lodge, on March 20.
The camera is valued at $2500 and is one of four donated to various CFS brigades around SA by the Glenelg Lodge.
This camera will enable personnel to determine “hot spots” in structures or in the bush.
KI Council CEO Greg Georgopolous said the camera would be an important addition to the firefighting arsenal of the CFS.
This practical donation supplements the many thousands of dollars of cash donations to the KI Mayoral Bushfire Appeal forwarded by a large number of Freemason lodges and individual Freemasons from KI and more particularly, the mainland.
Freemasons have opened their hearts and wallets to help those in need both in the Adelaide Hills and on Kangaroo Island.
