Freemasons give £700 Grant to Charles Thompson Mission

The CFC Community Grant awarded £700 to the Charles Thompson Mission to pay for the gas main to be upgraded in their kitchen following a replacement cooker. The Charles Thompson Mission in Birkenhead was founded in as we know it today in 1892 by Charles Thompson to alleviate children in poverty. Following his death in 1903, his daughter Annie Thompson continued with his work. The Centre is now managed by Mr Bernie Frost.

Pictured are Provincial Grand Charity Steward Colin Ross and Area 1 Charity Steward Garry Usherwood, presenting a cheque to one of the early beneficiaries of the work of the mission at the age of 8, Peggy Maskrey, who continues to volunteer helping the homeless and those in need at the age of 96!
