Freemasons extend Olive branch to give popular Swindon cafe a refurb

WHEN the very popular Olive Tree Cafe decided they needed some help in refurbishing their tables, Freemasons from the Swindon Masonic Centre located at The Planks in Old Town quickly offered their help.

Nine Lodges meet in Swindon and it was members of Gooch Lodge (named after Daniel Gooch of GWR fame) who arrived on site on Saturday and got to work sanding the table tops before applying a coat of protective lacquer.

The tables are now back in use and looking as good as new.

Gary Dolphin, Secretary of the Lodge said: “I am a regular visitor to the Olive Tree Cafe and I noticed the tables needed a little ‘tender loving care.

“A chat with the manager resulted  in local Freemasons offering to refurbish the tables, something we were delighted to do”.

Swindon Freemasons support  a number of local charities including the Olive Tree Cafe and TWIGS.

The picture above shows members Phil Wood, Paul Sharp, John Sturgeon and Paul Moffat sanding the tables before applying the finishing touches, with the end product displayed below.
