Freemasons Donation helps Hinchingbrooke Hospital purchase an AquaVENT Heated Breathing System

On Monday the 22nd October three members of Samuel Pepys Lodge No 8330 visited Hinchingbrooke Hospital to present Sister Sam Clayton-Roberts, of the Critical Care Unit, a cheque for £8,100. The donation was to enable them to purchase an AquaVENT machine. AquaVENT Heated Breathing Systems combine technological advances in thermal conductivity and breathing circuit construction to deliver optimal and controlled humidification. Basically, it assists patients in a serious condition to breath without causing damage to their respiratory systems.

The funds were raised by our Past Master, Worshipful Brother Mo Moussi during his year in the chair through a number of excellent events including his successful Ladies Evening. Unfortunately WBro Moussi was unable to attend the presentation due to other commitments.

The presentation was made by Worshipful Brother Peter Fotheringham and Worshipful Brother Roger Haynes accompanied by Worshipful Brother Rob Taylor who took the photographs. Whilst there we met members of the staff, were given a tour of the facilities and shown one of the AquaVENT machines that the donation will purchase.

Pictured are WBro. Peter Fotheringham and WBro. Roger Haynes presenting the cheque to Sister Sam Clayton-Roberts with members of her staff.

It was an interesting session and many things were learnt by both us as about the CCU and the nursing staff about what we do through Freemasonry. We wish the staff at the Critical Care Unit all the best and hope the new machine will provide many years of service.
