Freemasons donate Showground Carousel Horse to Special Needs Children

WILL FAIRFIELD WIN HEARTS?

Ladbrooks give 300-1 odds that a gift to Special Needs Children from the Provincial Grand Master RWBro Steven Varley, will win the hearts of its riders and will give many years of pleasure.

Wednesday February 1st saw the Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Steven Varley welcomed to Fairfield Lodge Annual Burns Night by the Worshipful Master, WBro David Ross, where 26 visitors along with the Lodge members witnessed the ceremony of Passing on Bro Paul Allen

The Haggis was of course piped in and presented in a most perfect manner and was addressed and toasted by WBro Stephen Fraser – Burton PrG Stwd , followed by the traditional parade to the room prior to the commencement of the jovialities.

The Festive Board was enhanced by an articulate and at times very entertaining presentation by WBro Barry Bickley PAGDC who on behalf of the lodge presented the Provincial Grand Master with a beautifully adorned showground carousel horse. This was actually the second horse to be presented by the Lodge to a PGM and now forms part of a very illustrious stable.

The horse was the brain child of WBro Cyril Bishton and was traditionally, meticulously and superbly hand painted by his son-in-law, WBro Luke Forest PrGStwd. To cap it all in true showground tradition the horse was aptly inscribed with the name ‘Steven’.

The PGM was asked to nominate a special needs school of his choice within the province where the “Horse” would be homed to give its riders many years of enjoyment and continued pleasure and where he felt that the students would gain the most benefit from it. Why 300 to one odds “it’s our 300 years tercentenary of course” (Taken from www.pglderbyshire.org.uk/will-fairfield-win-hearts )
