Dementia UK recently received a grant of £90,000 to fund the role of a Director of Clinical Services who will lead the charity’s Admiral Nursing team.
The new role will lead on the charity’s strategic goal to gather and evaluate data on the Admiral Nurse service, demonstrating the value of these specialist dementia nurses who give families the emotional support, expert advice and practical solutions they need to face dementia with more confidence and less fear.
The new Director, Kay Atkinson, joins the charity with 35 years’ worth of experience in the NHS, having started her career as a nurse. Kay has worked in senior management positions in national health and social care charitable organisations and as a local government officer.
Kay will be working alongside the CEO of Dementia UK and Chief Admiral Nurse Dr Hilda Hayo, to provide clinical leadership to the 191 Admiral Nurses currently spread across the country.
