Help for a special child
Finley Newell, a three year old youngster from Haddenham, has suffered from spinal muscular atrophy type 2 since birth.
This is a rare and progressive neuromuscular condition that affects his arms, hands, head and neck. Breathing and swallowing are also badly affected, and this leaves him extremely susceptible to chest infections. Finley has been in and out of hospital all his short life and will never be able to walk.
On Monday 7th November, Tony Bromage, the Master of Aylesbury Lodge, 4534, was delighted to present a cheque for £500 to Finley’s mother, Rosie. This is to help with the purchase of mobility equipment and the structural modifications needed, to his home, to make life that little bit easier for Finley.
Finley has his own Facebook page which can be found by searching for: “The Finley Newell Mobility and Equipment Fund”.
Tony said: “Finley is such a wonderful young lad who deserves all the support he can get. The members of Aylesbury Lodge have been keeping an eye on him for a long time and we wanted to do something to help him and his family. Thus, I was delighted to present this cheque to help towards the heavy financial burden that caring for Finley has imposed on his loving and dedicated family”
