Dorset Freemasons Charity Event (MACE) Bowls Competition raises £3000

Dorset Freemasonry hosted the Masonic Annual Charity Event (MACE) Bowls Competition as part of their celebration of the Tercentenary of English Freemasonry.

The event supported three Dorset Charities, Julia’s House children’s hospice, the Victoria School for Disabled Children and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. With sponsorship from various lodges, businesses and raffles held on the day, a total figure of around £3000 was raised.

Sue Maggs, the secretary of Dorchester Bowls Club, and her team provided first class service and organisation throughout the event.

Officially opened by the Provincial Grand Master for Dorset, Richard Merritt, 96 Masonic bowlers from all over the UK competed in a closely fought contest with a team from the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London being declared overall winners. As well as a large amount of local support, leaders of Freemasonry from Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex, Provincial Grand Lodge of Devonshire and Provincial Grand Lodge of Sussex travelled to Dorset’s county town to support this terrific charitable and sporting event.
