It was with great sadness earlier this year that W. Bro Frank Nugent passed away. He was a stalwart of the lodge and we felt that his legacy should live on in the lodge. With this in mind, we commissioned a lectern to be made in Franks memory which can now be utilised in lodge meetings by our honourable secretary.
W.Brother Frank Nugent was born in 1942; the youngest of four brothers. He had attended Cole Street Primary School and then Hemingford Secondary School and became a choir boy at St. Matthews Church. At the age of 17 years he joined the Cheshire Yeomanry which was the start of his military career that lasted for 40 years. In the 1960’s on a T.A. weekend in Knutsford he met the love of his life; Pam. This was the start of a long distance courtship, which saw Frank and Pam married in 1964 and their daughter Caroline was born in 1965. Between 1982 and 1990 they fostered 21 children. Unfortunately, Pam passed away several years ago. His military career led to his promotion to Staff Sergeant seeing him run the Regimental officers mess until 1997.
The end of his T.A. career left a void in Frank’s life and it was at this point that Franks’ Masonic career began, with an invitation being extended to both Frank & Pam to attend Marlowe Lodges Ladies night. This led to Franks initiation into Marlowe Lodge on 17 September 1997. He was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on 18th March 1999 was Installed as Master on the 24th of October 2004. Frank was Invested as the Lodge Chaplain in 2013, and continued in that position until his premature departure to the Grand Lodge above.
WBro. Frank would always go the extra mile for you. He was funny, warm hearted, generous and mischievous. A friend who will be greatly missed. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. Part of us went with you, the day that God took you home.
