Freemasons donate to Age Concern in Torrevieja

In May of last year Masons from the Caledonia Lodge number 68 presented a cheque for EUR2000 to the Age Concern Centre, Costa Blanca Sur in Torrevieja to go towards the purchase of a new bus, to assist in transporting elderly, local citizens.

The money was raised over the previous year by Masons of the Lodge through various fund raising events.

The Masonic Homes of Valencia had kindly offered to match any amount raised and so gave another cheque, for a further EUR2000. The first cheque, along with other money raised, was sufficient for a deposit and allowed the bus to be ordered, this second cheque, along with further money raised by Age Concern, has allowed the bus to be purchased. It will be of great assistance to Age Concern and warmly welcomed by the local residents who will be able to make use of it.

On the 19th January this second cheque was presented by the Worshipful Master of the Lodge, WBro David Turner, to the head of Age Concern in Torrevieja, Ms Maureen Payne, who received the cheque with thanks and offered her gratitude to all the Masons involved in raising the money and to The Masonic Homes of Valencia. The Master was accompanied by his Charity Steward Bro Ian Bullock.

The picture shows the handover of the cheque by the Worshipful Master, WBro David Turner, to Ms Maureen Payne.
