Devonshire Lodge Charity Steward John Acton with Lodge members David Wood and Tony Lawton hands over a cheque for £400 to Andrew Wilson, Hon. Treasurer of the Partington Theatre Club, Glossop. The money will go towards the cost of the new fireproof stage curtains.
Andrew said that the Partington Theatre building was constructed in 1914 as the then Liberal Club and the theatre acquired the building about 60 years ago. Over the years they have extensively renovated the interior to turn it into a much-admired intimate amateur theatre. They are currently planning further renovations to the auditorium and repairs are required to the North face stonework which will cost in the region of £10,500.
John commented that the Lodge was pleased to be able to help this valuable local theatre as it is such an important and valuable cultural centre in Glossopdale.
