This is a charity which the Warwickshire Masonic Charitable Association is pleased to support, and we have an open invitation to attend. Having attended last year, it is amazing to see so many dogs together in one place – there are numerous demonstrations, including the West Midlands Police Dog Unit, a Fun Dog Show, and demonstration involving disability assistance by the charity itself
The club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at St James Church Cobham Road Accrington, where they have free use of the meeting room at the rear of the church. The theme for this meeting was the Queens 90th Birthday Celebrations, where all the guests received a replica of the meal presented to guests at the party held on the Mall in London.
Herefordshire Freemasons have made a donation of £1,000 to the Hereford Breast Cancer Haven. This continues a long tradition of support from Freemasons for this excellent and worthwhile organisation, and the Province has made a commitment to support the Haven with at least £1,000 a year through the charity’s Guardian scheme.
£10,000 for Midlands Air AmbulanceThe Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is dear to the hearts of many Freemasons in the Province, providing a service which is especially important in a thinly populated rural area such as ours. The PGM, RW Bro Rev’d David Bowen, and his Deputy, VW Bro Michael Roff, presented a further £10,000 to the MAAC at Strensham Airbase on 30 April 2016. £6,000 of this was raised by Herefordshire Freemasons and provided through the Herefordshire Masonic Charity Association. The other £4,000 came from the Grand Charity as part of its programme of support for local causes throughout England and Wales, and which is distributed through the Provinces.

Worshipful Master, David Evans and his wife Karen kindly hosted a Garden Party at their home on Sunday 3rd July 2016. A total of 81 Brethren, family and friends supported the event which meant, along with the Master’s personal guests, there was well over a hundred present. We were very fortunate, blessed with a sunny and warm afternoon. What a bonus after the awful weather in the days preceding.
The Classic 300 breakfast at Alderson House in Warwick on Sunday 3rd July attracted a splendid turn out with 30 cars and 8 motorbikes coming from as far afield as Cheshire and Leicester with strong representation from the four provinces working together on MFest. The weather was also kind making for a very pleasant event.
The Masonic Charitable Foundation has awarded £65,000 to the INSPIRE Foundation to fund a research project which aims to improve the quality of life and independence of people with spinal cord injuries. The research project will be led by young research scientist Sean Doherty who broke his neck in a mountain bike accident in 2008 at the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. Sean broke his neck in a mountain bike accident in 2008 and subsequently lives with Tetraplegia which means he is both disabled and has limited hand and arm function. After receiving a written application last November from club Secretary Mrs Marion Drage, inquiring if any financial support towards the cost of the hire of two coaches to transport their members on their annual outing was at all possible, the Derbyshire Freemasons decided to go one better.
