Athelstan Lodge No 133
Worshipful Master, David Evans and his wife Karen kindly hosted a Garden Party at their home on Sunday 3rd July 2016. A total of 81 Brethren, family and friends supported the event which meant, along with the Master’s personal guests, there was well over a hundred present. We were very fortunate, blessed with a sunny and warm afternoon. What a bonus after the awful weather in the days preceding.

Everyone enjoyed pork batches from the roast pig, burgers and hot dogs were also available along with jacket potatoes, salad, quiche and vegetarian options. All of this was followed by a selection of sweets, strawberries and cream, delicious cupcakes, and to finish, cheese and biscuits. The bar was open all afternoon with a seemingly endless supply of beer, wine and soft drinks, ably staffed by our hosts family
In addition to the refreshments we were royally entertained with singing and music by a young local lady. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves on what was another splendid social event.
A raffle was held which raised £625.00 and, with the profits from the event added, means a grand total of £1205.00 was raised for charity. This money will go to Karen and David’s designated local Charities, the Mary Ann Evans Hospice and the St Giles Hospice.
