Crewkerne Freemasons and the Somerset Provincial Grand Lodge are sponsoring Donald Gray’s production of PPE ear protectors for NHS staff, care workers and others employed on the front line during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mr Gray who is a member of the Parrett and Axe Lodge, whose meetings are held at the Masonic Hall in South Street, is making batches of the ear protectors on a 3D printer at his home near Yeovil.
The South Wales Freemasons have provided £22,500 to supply cooked meals to those in need and food to foodbanks during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Mental health support services in England and Wales are to receive a significant boost thanks to a generous £250,000 grant from Freemasons’ charity, in support of mental health charity Mind and its emergency appeal.
Professor Bill Fraser, head of Norwich Medical School at UEA and a consultant metabolic physician and chemical pathologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, said: “We are really very grateful for the support of the region’s Freemasons.

Buttle UK based in Westminster, Greater London, work through a network of referral organisations such as local charities, social services and health centres, who ensure that help is given to those who need it most. Coronavirus has seen the charity busier than ever, but the unique referral network has allowed it to continue to support families despite the lockdown.
The four £1500 donations from the Masonic Charitable Foundation were allocated to foodbanks in Morpeth, Hexham, Newcastle and North Shields.
She said the donation – which came out of their respective lodges and was match funded by the Freemasons’ charity arm – came out of the blue.
Over the last two months the Harrogate Scrubbers – an army of volunteers led by teacher Fran Taylor – has been busy making scrubs, laundry bags, scrub caps and waterproof gowns, to help ensure the medics are protected when treating Coronavirus patients.
London Masons are providing 800 free hot meals a week and have now extended the funding for that for the next 3 months. The meals are provided for those residents in need in Ealing and Acton identified by the Council, local youth center, women’s refuge and the Ealing Mutual Aid Group.
