Thousands of people with visual impairments in Northern England will benefit from a £60,000 grant to Henshaws. Henshaws works across the North of England to support people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities. Their goal is to help people build skills, develop confidence and look forward to a positive future.

Freemasons donate £945 to Jo’s appeal Cancer Charity

Jo Davies was a well-known and popular community journalist with the Barrow-in-Furness based Evening Mail, but sadly she died in 2015 at the age of 38 years as a result of ovarian cancer. With the aim of raising funds to help the fight against gynaecological cancer, the ‘Jo’s Appeal’ charity was established a few days before her death.

Freemasons donate £800 to Podiatry Department in Torbay hospital

At a recent appointment held in the Podiatry Department in Torbay hospital Clive Eden, who is a Freemason and has for 45 years been a type 1 diabetic, was advised by Ruth Gornall, Lead Diabetetes Podiatrist of a project being undertaken by their department to purchase a portable X-Ray machine but due to all the current restrictions it was not available through the usual channels. A reconditioned X-Ray machine would cost £15,000 but will have to be funded through private donations.

Almost one hundred supporters filled the garden to enjoy a most splendid BBQ with delicious food and plenty to drink. Tony and Jill, together with their family, have deservedly built up a bit of a reputation for the quality of their hospitality and so it’s not surprising so many people turned out on a day when the weather forecast was less than favourable.
