W. Bro. George James, of Sabrina Lodge, No. 6595, has very recently been awarded the Legion d`Honneur for his service to France during the Second World War, particularly on D Day.

George, his wife Doris and his familiy, travelled to La Rochelle to receive the medal and by all accounts had a splendid time and they were very well looked after, with many French people coming up to thank and praise him.

The Legion d’Honneur is the highest French order for military and civil merits, established in 1802 by Napolean Bonaparte.
